preschooler. The goal to is have read 1000 books with your child before they start kindergarten.
How to Participate
Register for the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program. Sign up at the library’s front desk or from the link at the bottom of this page and start your child’s 1000 Books Before Kindergarten reading journey today! If you’ve already started the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program, don’t forget to let us know so we can share helpful tips on reading and help you to encourage a lifelong love of reading success for your child!
Read with your child. Did you know that reading to your child is one of the most powerful ways to boost his or her brain power? The simple and enjoyable experience of sharing books helps your child to learn important skills like the sounds letters make, increases their vocabulary and contributes to their social and emotional development -and best of all, it’s fun!
Keep track of the books read to your child. Using the paper logs provided at the library or printed from the link at the bottom of this page, the “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” smartphone app, or your own special journal, keep a record of the books read to your child. Don’t forget to include books read to your child by grandparents, siblings, and other special people.
Bring your completed book logs to Springfield Township Library. As you reach each 100 book milestone as well as your final 1000 book goal, bring your logs to the library’s front desk to receive your prizes. You will receive a sticker and a certificate for a free Rainforest Café meal for each 100 book milestone. Once you reach the 1000 books goals, you will receive a completion certificate, a free book, a 1000 Books nameplate in a book in the library’s collection as well as your name on the library’s 1000 Books Honor Roll board.
