Library borrowing procedures and how to get a Springfield Township Library card.

How do I get a library card?

  1. You must be a Springfield Township resident.
  2. Residency can be proven by presenting your driver’s license, current utility bill and/or a recent tax statement linking your name to the property.
  3. If you are a resident of Holly, Rose, or Groveland Townships your home library is the Holly Township Library. In order to use the Springfield Township Library you would have to obtain a nonresident card. Nonresident cards are $100/annually or $25.00/quarterly. (apply in person only)
  4. Applications are available in person at the Check-Out Desk. If you would like to fill one out beforehand, an adult borrower application is available here.
  5. If you are a student or staff member at Clarkston Community Schools you can also obtain a Pack Pass library card. More information on how to apply for a Pack Pass can be found here.

Can my child get a library card?

  1. If you are under 18, you must get a minor application for a library card (in-person only) at the Check-Out Desk.
  2. A parent must accompany anyone under 18 to get a card.
  3. There is no age restriction on getting a card, but the child must be able to sign their own first & last name on the application.
  4. Minor cards and parent cards are not linked, cards come in a set of two, a parent should keep one of the cards in order to ensure access to the account.

What are my options if I want to renew my items?

  1. Visit the online library catalog here. Log in to your account with your library card number and pin. If you are unsure of your pin, try the last 4 digits of your phone number.
  2. Go to the Check-Out Desk at the library.
  3. Call the library at 248-846-6550. Have your library card number ready.

What items can I renew?

  1. New items cannot be renewed.
  2. Items requested by other patrons cannot be renewed.
  3. Items can only be renewed twice.
  4. Items from other libraries may have different renewal policies.

What happens if I have lost or damaged a library item?

  1. The replacement cost of the item will be charged to your library account.
  2. Do not purchase a replacement item.
  3. Check, cash or online payment will be accepted for replacement costs.
  4. Your account will be frozen until the issue is resolved.
